Extras are the wildcard category in Fanaura. They cover everything that does not fit neatly into Music, Merch, or Tours — music videos, livestreams, giveaways, meetups, VIP experiences, Q&A sessions, and anything else you can imagine. Extras keep your artist page dynamic and give fans more ways to connect with you beyond just listening and buying.

What Are Extras?

Think of Extras as special content and experiences you create for your fans. While music releases and tours follow predictable formats, Extras are flexible — you define what they are, how they work, and what fans can do with them. Every Extra you create gets:
  • A smart link page fans can visit
  • Analytics tracking views, clicks, and interactions
  • Flow Builder integration so you can automate messages based on fan interactions
  • Visibility controls for your smart link page
  • A cover image and description to present to fans

Extra Types

Fanaura supports eight types of Extras, each designed for a specific use case:

Giveaway

Create contests and sweepstakes where fans sign up for a chance to win something. This is one of the most popular Extra types for growing your fan database. Common uses:
  • “Win VIP Tickets to My Show”
  • “Win a Signed Vinyl”
  • “Win a Merch Bundle + Backstage Meet & Greet”
How fans interact: Fans click the CTA button on your smart link page and enter the giveaway. Their information is captured in your fan database. You select winners from the list. Icon: Gift (pink-to-rose gradient)

Meetup

In-person fan events that are not formal concerts — vinyl signings, fan meetups, listening parties, in-store appearances, and community gatherings. Common uses:
  • “Nashville Vinyl Signing at Grimey’s”
  • “Fan Meetup — Central Park, NYC”
  • “Album Listening Party at Third Man Records”
How fans interact: Fans RSVP or join through the smart link page. You can set a capacity limit and manage attendance. Icon: Users (cyan-to-blue gradient)

VIP Access

Exclusive access experiences — backstage passes, early entry, meet & greets, and premium experiences tied to shows or special events. Common uses:
  • “Backstage VIP Pass — LA Show”
  • “Early Entry + Soundcheck Experience”
  • “Private Acoustic Performance — 50 Fans Only”
How fans interact: Fans sign up through the smart link page. You can set capacity limits and use selection criteria (first-come, random draw, or manual selection). Icon: Star (amber-to-orange gradient)

Q&A / Call

Interactive sessions where fans get to talk with you directly — Zoom calls, FaceTime sessions, Instagram Lives with Q&A, or group video calls. Common uses:
  • “Fan Q&A — Ask Me Anything”
  • “1-on-1 FaceTime with a Fan”
  • “Zoom Listening Party for the New Album”
How fans interact: Fans sign up through the smart link page. You share the call link or platform details with selected participants. Icon: MessageCircle (green-to-emerald gradient)

Live Stream

Scheduled live broadcasts on Instagram Live, TikTok Live, YouTube Live, or any other streaming platform. Create an Extra to promote the stream, capture RSVP information, and notify fans when you go live. Common uses:
  • “Album Listening Party — IG Live”
  • “Songwriting Session — YouTube Live”
  • “Behind the Scenes Tour Rehearsal — TikTok Live”
How fans interact: Fans can subscribe/RSVP to get a reminder when the stream starts. The smart link page includes the platform and scheduled time. Icon: Radio (red-to-orange gradient)

Music Video

Link an official music video to your catalog. Music videos can be connected to a specific track in your library via ISRC lookup, creating a relationship between the audio release and the visual. Common uses:
  • “Blinding Lights Official Music Video”
  • “Summer Tour Recap Video”
  • “Acoustic Performance Video”
How fans interact: Fans watch the embedded video directly on your smart link page. The video player (YouTube embed) is built into the page. Icon: Video (purple-to-pink gradient)

Lyric Video

Similar to music videos but specifically for lyric videos. These can also be linked to tracks in your library. Common uses:
  • “Midnight Drive Official Lyric Video”
  • “New Single Lyric Video — Out Now”
How fans interact: Fans watch the embedded lyric video on your smart link page. Icon: Video (blue-to-cyan gradient)

Custom

A catch-all type for anything that does not fit the categories above. You define what it is, how it looks, and what the call-to-action does. Common uses:
  • “Exclusive Fan Club Content”
  • “Unreleased Demo — Fans Only”
  • “Photo Gallery — Tour Behind the Scenes”
  • “Fan Art Contest”
  • “Holiday Surprise for Fans”
How fans interact: Completely up to you. Set a custom CTA button with any text and URL. Icon: Sparkles (orange-to-yellow gradient)

Adding an Extra

Step 1: Open the Add Extra Wizard

  1. Navigate to Assets from the sidebar.
  2. Click the Extras tab.
  3. Click the ”+ Add Extra” button.
A multi-step wizard opens.

Step 2: Choose the Type

The first screen shows all eight Extra types as cards with icons, names, and short descriptions. Click the type that matches what you are creating. Each type has:
  • A unique icon and color gradient
  • A label (Giveaway, Meetup, VIP Access, etc.)
  • A description explaining when to use it
  • Placeholder text that adjusts to the selected type

Step 3: Enter Details

After selecting the type, you fill in the details:

Title (Required)

A clear, compelling title for your Extra. The placeholder text adapts to the type you selected:
  • Giveaway: “e.g., Win VIP Tickets to My Show”
  • Meetup: “e.g., Nashville Vinyl Signing”
  • VIP: “e.g., Backstage VIP Pass — LA Show”
  • Q&A: “e.g., Fan Q&A — Ask Me Anything”

Description

A detailed description of what this Extra is about. Tell fans what to expect, what is included, and why they should care. The placeholder text also adapts by type:
  • Giveaway: “Tell fans what they could win and how to enter…”
  • VIP: “What does VIP include? Early entry, meet & greet, merch…”

Cover Image

Upload a cover image or promotional graphic. This appears as the hero image on your Extra’s smart link page. Drag and drop or click to upload.

Primary URL (For Videos and Livestreams)

For music videos, lyric videos, and livestreams, enter the URL of the content:
  • YouTube video URL (for music/lyric videos — Fanaura embeds the player)
  • Instagram Live URL
  • TikTok Live URL
  • Any other platform URL

Scheduled Date and Time

For time-based Extras (livestreams, meetups, Q&A sessions), set when the event happens. This is displayed on the smart link page so fans know when to show up.

Custom CTA

Set a custom call-to-action button:
  • CTA Text: What the button says (e.g., “Join Now”, “Enter Giveaway”, “RSVP”, “Watch Now”, “Learn More”)
  • CTA URL: Where the button links to (optional — can link to an external page or keep fans on Fanaura)

Step 4: Track Linking (For Videos)

For music videos and lyric videos, you can link the video to a track in your library:
  1. A track selector appears showing your music releases.
  2. Search by title or browse your library.
  3. Select the track this video belongs to.
  4. The video is linked to the track via your ISRC.
Linking creates a relationship between the audio release and the video — the video can appear on the track’s smart link page, and the track appears on the video’s page.

Step 5: Review and Create

Review your details and click “Create Extra” to save. Fanaura generates a smart link and builds the fan-facing page.

Managing Extras

After creation, click on any Extra from the Assets > Extras tab to open its management page.

Edit Details

Update the title, description, cover image, URL, scheduled date, CTA text, or CTA URL at any time. Changes are reflected on the smart link page immediately.

Status Management

Set the status of your Extra:
  • Draft: Not visible to fans. Use this while you are still setting things up.
  • Active: Live and visible. Fans can interact with it.
  • Archived: No longer active but data is retained.

Visibility Toggle

Like all asset types, Extras have a visibility toggle that controls whether they appear on your public smart link page. Toggle it on or off from the Extras list or from the Extra’s management page.

Fan Interactions

Depending on the Extra type, fans can interact in different ways:

Joinable Extras

These types allow fans to join or sign up:
  • Giveaway — Fans enter the giveaway
  • Meetup — Fans RSVP to attend
  • VIP Access — Fans sign up for the experience
  • Q&A / Call — Fans register to participate
When a fan joins, their information is captured in your fan database with the Extra tagged to their profile. You can see the member count (how many fans have joined) on the Extra’s management page.

View-Only Extras

These types are primarily for viewing:
  • Music Video — Fans watch the embedded video
  • Lyric Video — Fans watch the embedded video
  • Livestream — Fans get information about the stream (platform, time, link)
  • Custom — Depends on your configuration

Analytics

Every Extra tracks:
  • Total views — How many times the smart link page was visited
  • Total clicks — How many times the CTA button was clicked
  • Total interactions — Combined engagement metric
  • Member count — For joinable types, how many fans signed up

Flow Builder Integration

Extras are deeply integrated with Fanaura’s Flow Builder, giving you powerful automation capabilities:

Triggers

Use fan interactions with Extras as triggers for automated flows:
  • “Fan Joins Extra” — Fires when a fan joins a giveaway, meetup, VIP, or Q&A. Use this to send a confirmation message, add them to a specific segment, or trigger a follow-up sequence.

Actions

Use Extras as actions within your flows:
  • “Invite to Extra” — Send a fan an invitation to join a specific Extra. Great for targeted campaigns where you want to invite specific fan segments to exclusive experiences.

Example Flows

Giveaway Welcome Flow:
  1. Trigger: Fan joins “Win VIP Tickets” giveaway
  2. Action: Send SMS — “You’re entered! We’ll announce the winner on Friday. Good luck!”
  3. Delay: Wait until Friday
  4. Action: Send SMS to winner — “Congratulations! You won VIP tickets!”
VIP Exclusive Offer:
  1. Trigger: Fan pre-saves new single
  2. Action: Invite to “Backstage VIP Pass” Extra
  3. Trigger: Fan joins VIP Extra
  4. Action: Send email with VIP details and instructions
Meetup Reminder:
  1. Trigger: Fan joins “Nashville Vinyl Signing” meetup
  2. Delay: Wait until 24 hours before event
  3. Action: Send SMS — “See you tomorrow at Grimey’s! Doors open at 2pm.”

Extras appear on your public artist smart link page in the Extras section. Each Extra shows:
  • The cover image (or a type-specific icon if no image is uploaded)
  • The title
  • The type badge (Giveaway, VIP, Meetup, etc.)
  • A CTA button with your custom text
Fans can browse your Extras alongside your music, tours, and merch, creating a comprehensive view of everything you have to offer.

Best Practices

Use Giveaways to Grow Your Fan Database

Giveaways are one of the most effective ways to collect fan data. Offer something fans genuinely want (concert tickets, signed merch, exclusive access) and promote the giveaway across all your channels. Every entry adds a new fan to your database.

Time Your Extras Strategically

Launch a giveaway alongside a new single to amplify both. Schedule a livestream the night before a tour announcement. Create a meetup Extra when you are in a city for a show. Timing Extras with your release cycle multiplies their impact.

Keep It Fresh

Rotate your Extras regularly. Having the same giveaway sitting on your page for months gets stale. Archive completed Extras and replace them with new ones to give fans a reason to keep checking your page.

Use Flow Builder Automations

Do not just create Extras — automate the follow-up. Every fan who joins a giveaway, RSVPs to a meetup, or signs up for VIP access should get an immediate confirmation and a series of relevant follow-up messages. When you add a music video or lyric video, always link it to the corresponding track in your library. This creates a richer experience on your track’s smart link page and helps fans discover your visual content alongside your audio releases.

Common Questions

Can I have multiple active Extras at the same time?

Yes. You can have as many active Extras as you want. Fans see all visible Extras on your smart link page.

Can I set a capacity limit for meetups and VIP experiences?

Yes. The capacity field lets you set a maximum number of participants. Once the limit is reached, the Extra stops accepting new sign-ups.

Do fans need a Fanaura account to join an Extra?

No. Fans provide their information (email, phone, name) through the data collection form when they interact with the Extra. They do not need a Fanaura account.

Can I manually select who gets into a VIP experience?

Yes. The selection type setting lets you choose between first-come-first-served, random selection, or manual approval. For manual approval, you review sign-ups and approve the fans you want to include.

Can I use Extras for paid experiences?

Currently, Extras are free to join. If you want to charge for an experience (VIP tickets, paid meetup), use the CTA button to link to an external payment page or ticketing platform.
