Pre-save pages are one of the most powerful tools in your Fanaura arsenal. They let fans commit to your music before it’s even released — and in the process, they give you their contact information, platform preferences, and consent to hear from you. Every presave is a new fan in your database. Every presave page is a growth engine.

What Is a Presave?

When a fan “presaves” your song, they’re authorizing their streaming platform (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) to automatically add the song to their library on release day. It’s like a pre-order, but for streaming. Why presaves matter:
  • Day-one streams — every presave becomes an automatic stream on release day
  • Algorithm signals — a surge of day-one activity signals to Spotify and Apple Music that your release is worth promoting
  • Fan data — every presave captures a real fan contact with consent
  • Engagement measurement — presave counts tell you how much anticipation exists for your release
  • Campaign targeting — presavers are your most engaged fans for this release cycle

The Presave Page URL

Your presave page lives at:
fan.fanaura.com/link/presave/[slug]
The slug is automatically generated from your release title (e.g., midnight-drive), and you can customize it if you want something different.

What Fans See

When a fan clicks your presave link, here’s their experience:

1. Data Wrapper (First Visit Only)

If it’s the fan’s first time visiting any of your smart links, they’ll see the data wrapper screen:
  • Your artist name and avatar
  • A brief message explaining they’re about to access your content
  • Email field — required
  • Phone number field — optional
  • Consent checkboxes:
    • “I agree to receive email updates” (email opt-in)
    • “I agree to receive SMS updates” (SMS opt-in)
    • “I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy”
  • A submit button
Once they complete this, it’s remembered. They won’t see it again on future visits.

2. The Presave Page

After the data wrapper (or immediately if they’re a returning fan), they see the presave page: Layout:
  • Album artwork — large, beautiful display of your cover art. This is the centerpiece of the page.
  • Song title — prominently displayed below the artwork
  • Artist name — your name (or “Artist Name feat. Collaborator”)
  • Release date — “Drops March 28, 2027” or similar countdown
  • Platform buttons — one for each platform you’ve enabled:
    • “Pre-Save on Spotify” (with Spotify icon)
    • “Pre-Save on Apple Music” (with Apple Music icon)
    • “Pre-Save on YouTube Music” (with YouTube icon)
    • Additional platforms as configured
Each button is large, colorful, and designed for easy tapping on mobile.

3. Platform Authorization

When a fan clicks a platform button, different things happen depending on the platform: Spotify (OAuth):
  1. Fan clicks “Pre-Save on Spotify”
  2. They’re redirected to Spotify’s login page
  3. They authorize Fanaura to add songs to their library
  4. They’re redirected back to your presave page with a success confirmation
  5. On release day, the song is automatically saved to their Spotify library
Apple Music:
  1. Fan clicks “Pre-Save on Apple Music”
  2. They authorize the add-to-library action
  3. The song is queued for automatic addition on release day
Other Platforms:
  • YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, and Tidal have similar flows with their respective authorization screens

4. Confirmation

After completing a presave, the fan sees:
  • A success message (“You’re all set! ‘Midnight Drive’ will be saved to your Spotify library on March 28.”)
  • Option to presave on additional platforms
  • Share buttons to spread the word

Fan Data Captured

Every presave interaction captures rich data:
Data PointHow It’s Captured
EmailEntered in the data wrapper
Phone numberEntered in the data wrapper (optional)
First nameEntered in the data wrapper (if requested)
Last nameEntered in the data wrapper (if requested)
Platform preferenceWhich platform they presaved on
LocationAuto-detected from IP (city, state, country)
Email opt-inConsent checkbox
SMS opt-inConsent checkbox
Consent timestampExact time consent was given
Presave timestampExact time the presave occurred
Referral sourceUTM parameters if present
This data flows directly into your Fanaura fan database. The fan becomes a real contact you can market to, segment, and nurture.

Mobile Optimization

Over 80% of presave traffic comes from mobile devices (fans clicking links in Instagram stories, TikTok bios, Twitter posts, etc.). Fanaura’s presave pages are designed mobile-first:
  • Large artwork — looks stunning on phone screens
  • Big, tappable buttons — easy to hit with a thumb
  • Single-column layout — no zooming or horizontal scrolling
  • Fast load times — optimized images and minimal code
  • OAuth redirects — seamless on mobile browsers
  • Platform app detection — when possible, opens the platform’s app directly
Test your presave page on your phone before sharing it. It should feel native and smooth.

What Happens After Presaving

Once a fan presaves, several things happen automatically:

1. Fan Added to Database

The fan appears in your Fans page with:
  • Contact info (email, phone)
  • Location data
  • Platform preference
  • Presave record linked to the specific release
  • VIP tier (calculated based on engagement)

2. Flow Triggers Activate

If you’ve set up a presave flow in the Flow Builder (e.g., “When someone presaves ‘Midnight Drive,’ send a thank-you email”), it triggers immediately. Common presave flow actions:
  • Send a thank-you email with exclusive content
  • Send an SMS with a personal message
  • Add the fan to a “Presavers” list
  • Send a reminder on release day

3. Presave Count Updates

Your release dashboard shows real-time presave counts. Watch the number climb as you promote the link.

4. Automatic Conversion on Release Day

On release day (at midnight), the presave page automatically converts to a stream page. No action needed from you. Fans who visit the link after release day see streaming buttons instead of presave buttons. More on this in the Stream Pages guide.

Spotify OAuth: The Details

Spotify presaves use OAuth, which deserves a closer look because it’s the most popular platform for presaves.

What OAuth Means

OAuth (Open Authorization) is a secure protocol that lets fans authorize Fanaura to perform a specific action (saving a song) on their Spotify account — without sharing their Spotify password.

The Flow

  1. Fan clicks “Pre-Save on Spotify”
  2. Redirected to accounts.spotify.com (Spotify’s official login)
  3. Fan logs in to Spotify (if not already logged in)
  4. Spotify shows: “Fanaura wants to: Save songs to your library”
  5. Fan clicks “Agree”
  6. Spotify sends an authorization token back to Fanaura
  7. Fan is redirected back to your presave page
  8. On release day, Fanaura uses that token to save the song to the fan’s library

What Fans Should Know

Some fans might be hesitant about authorizing a third-party app. Here’s what you can tell them:
  • Fanaura only requests permission to save songs to their library — nothing else
  • Fanaura cannot access their Spotify password
  • They can revoke access at any time from their Spotify settings
  • The authorization is used solely for the presave action

Best Practices for Presave Pages

  • Share the link everywhere. Instagram stories, TikTok bio, Twitter posts, YouTube descriptions, email signatures, live show screens — the more places, the more presaves.
  • Create urgency. “Presave by Friday to get an exclusive bonus track” drives more action than just “Presave my new single.”
  • Use high-quality artwork. Your cover art is the visual centerpiece. Make it eye-catching and representative of the music.
  • Open presaves 2-4 weeks before release. This gives you enough time to promote without losing momentum.
  • Set up a presave flow. Automate a thank-you message that goes out immediately after someone presaves. This turns a one-time interaction into the start of a relationship.
  • Track your presave rate. Compare presave counts to previous releases. Growing presave numbers mean your fanbase is expanding and engaged.
  • Share your presave count. Fans love seeing momentum. “We just hit 1,000 presaves — let’s get to 2,000!” creates a community goal.

Common Questions

Can fans presave on multiple platforms?

Yes. After presaving on one platform, they can go back and presave on others. The page shows all available platforms.

What if a fan doesn’t have a streaming account?

They can still enter their email through the data wrapper. They’ll be in your database even without completing a platform presave.

Do presaves expire?

No. Once a fan presaves, it’s locked in until release day. Even if the release date changes, the presave remains active.

Can I see who presaved?

Yes. Your release dashboard shows both the total presave count and a list of individual fans who presaved, including which platform they chose.
