# Blast tab

> One-time email, text, WhatsApp, and Instagram guidance from the Blast tab.

**Blast** sends one-time messages to a chosen audience. Open it from the **paper plane icon** on the bottom bar, to the right of the center **Journeys** orb. It is separate from journeys, which run ongoing capture and reply automations.

## Blast home

### Channel picker

| Segment | Action |
| - | - |
| **Email** | Starts an email blast draft |
| **Text** | Starts an SMS blast draft |
| **WhatsApp** | Shown when WhatsApp is enabled for your account. Pick a template, then compose |
| **Instagram** | Does not compose a blast here. Shows how keyword replies work and directs you to [Journeys](/ios/journeys) |

The large banner under the channel control starts the selected channel (or opens Journeys for Instagram).

### Library and drafts

For email and text (and WhatsApp when enabled):

| Section | Content |
| - | - |
| **Sent** | Past blasts with open report where available |
| **Drafts** | Local or server drafts. Tap to resume. Swipe or action to delete a draft |
| **Templates / reuse** | Reuse a previous blast as a starting point when offered |

## Composer flow (email)

Typical steps after **New blast** → **Email**:

| Audience | **Recipients** row opens segment picker (lists, filters, consent-aware counts) |
| Content | Subject, preview text, and body editor. Email uses the mobile canvas blocks |
| Links | **Add link** opens [Links](/ios/links) picker for smart links |
| Review | **Review** shows recipient count, sender address, and compliance summary |
| Send | **Send blast** requires confirmation. Nothing sends until you confirm |

Merge tags preview in the editor where supported.

## Composer flow (SMS)

| Step | Controls |

| Audience | Same recipient picker with SMS opt-in rules |
| Message | Text field with segment count and carrier estimate |
| Review | From your [texting number](/ios/texting-number), recipient count, and send button |

## Composer flow (WhatsApp)

Pick an approved template from the home list, then fill variables and recipients per template rules.

## During and after send

| State | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Outbox / saving | Draft saves automatically. **Save draft again** appears if save failed |
| Success notice | Confirms the blast queued or sent |
| **Blast report** | Opens from history for delivery stats when the server provides a report |

## Recovery

If the app closes mid-send, **Blast recovery** may offer to resume or discard a pending send when you return to the tab.
