# SMS Integration

> Provision a dedicated phone number for 2-way SMS conversations, campaign blasts, and automated fan messaging.

SMS reaches fans directly. With a 98% open rate compared to 20–30% for email, a text message is almost guaranteed to be seen. Fanaura gives each artist a **dedicated local phone number** (US) for 2-way conversations, blasts, and automation flows.

  **Number type:** Fanaura provisions **local A2P 10DLC** numbers. New numbers are registered to Fanaura's approved A2P campaign so carriers treat traffic as registered application-to-person messaging.

## What This Integration Does

* **Your own local number**: Search by area code and provision a number tied to your artist brand.
* **10DLC registration**: Numbers are assigned to Fanaura's approved A2P 10DLC campaign for reliable carrier delivery.
* **2-way conversations**: Fans text you; you reply directly from **Fans → Conversations**.
* **SMS blasts & flows**: The same number powers campaigns and automated flow messages.

## How Provisioning Works

    Enter a US area code. Fanaura shows available local numbers matching that area.

    Select a number and confirm. The number is stored immediately and carrier registration runs automatically (usually within minutes).

    When the status shows ready on the Integrations page, you can start sending.

## Throughput

SMS blasts are sent in batches per minute. Effective throughput depends on your carrier and 10DLC registration tier. Fanaura manages this automatically. If delivery is slower than you need, contact support — limits must stay within carrier rules for your campaign.

## Opt-In and Opt-Out

* Fans must **opt in** to SMS (e.g. consent checkbox on smart links). Only opted-in fans are eligible for blasts and flow messages.
* **STOP** opt-outs are honored automatically. Do not manually re-subscribe a fan who has texted STOP — this violates TCPA regulations.

## Troubleshooting

| Issue               | What to check                                                                                         |
| ------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| SMS not sending     | Confirm your number is active on the Integrations page and that the fan has opted in to SMS.          |
| Inbound not showing | Check your Activity Logs for any inbound processing errors and contact support if the issue persists. |
| Delivery delays     | 10DLC carrier registration may still be processing. Check the status on the Integrations page.        |

## Best Practices

* Keep messages concise — longer messages are split into multiple segments and cost more to send.
* Identify your artist name in the copy so fans recognize the sender.
* Send during reasonable hours for your fans' timezone — typically 10 AM–8 PM.
* In your first message to new fans, encourage them to save your number: *"Save this number as \[Artist Name] so you always know it's us!"*
